چکیده

Group Password-Based Authenticated Key Exchange (GPAKE) allows a group of users to establish a secret key, as long as all of them share the same password. However, in existing GPAKE protocols as soon as one user runs the protocol with a non-matching password, all the others abort and no key is established. In this paper we seek for a more flexible, yet secure, GPAKE and put forward the notion of partitioned GPAKE. Partitioned GPAKE tolerates users that run the protocol on different passwords. Through a protocol run, any subgroup of users that indeed share a password, establish a session key, factoring out the “noise” of inputs by users holding different passwords. At the same time any two keys, each established by a different subgroup of users, are pair-wise independent if the corresponding subgroups hold different passwords. We also introduce the notion of password-privacy for partitioned GPAKE, which is a kind of affiliation hiding property, ensuring that an adversary should not be able to tell whether any given set of users share a password. Finally, we propose an efficient instantiation of partitioned GPAKE building on an unforgeable symmetric encryption scheme and a PAKE by Bellare et al. [6]. Our proposal is proven secure in the random oracle/ideal cipher model, and requires only two communication rounds.

emph{ Smooth Projective Hash Functions } ( SPHFs ) as a specific pattern of zero knowledge proof system are fundamental tools to build many efficient cryptographic schemes and protocols. As an application of SPHFs, emph { Password - Based Authenticated Key Exchange } ( PAKE ) protocol is well-studied area in the last few years. In 2009, Katz and Vaikuntanathan described the first lattice-based ...

Contributory Password-Authenticated Group Key Exchange with Join Capability

Password-based authenticated group key exchange allows any group of users in possession of a low-entropy secret key to establish a common session key even in the presence of adversaries. In this paper, we propose a new generic construction of password-authenticated group key exchange protocol from any two-party password-authenticated key exchange with explicit authentication. Our new constructi...

Group Password-Authenticated Key Exchange from Identity-Based Cryptosystem

Password-authenticated key exchange (PAKE) protocols are designed to be secure even when the secret key used for authentication is a human-memorable password. In this paper, we consider PAKE protocols in the group scenario, in which a group of clients, each of them shares a password with an “honest but curious” server, intend to establish a common secret key (i.e., a group key) with the help of...

Multi-LHL protocol

We present a password-authenticated group key exchange protocol where each user has his/her own password. Advantage of such protocol is in short passwords, which can be easily memorized. On the other hand these protocols face the low password entropy. In the first part we define security model based on models of Abdalla, Fouque and Pointcheval and Bellare, Pointcheval, Rogaway. We construct the...

Server-Aided Password-Authenticated Key Exchange: From 3-Party to Group

Protocols for group key exchange are cryptographic algorithms that describe how a group of parties communicating over a public network can come up with a common secret key. Due to their critical role in building secure multicast channels, a number of group key exchange protocols have been proposed over the years for a variety of settings. In this work, we present a new protocol for password-aut...
